| WHO IS STUDIO GHIBLI? Studio Ghibli is an animation studio based in Japan. It was set up by animator Hayao Miyazaki and film maker Isao Takahata in 1985 for 'Tenkyuu no Shiro Rapyuta' (Laputa: Castle in the Sky). However the studio had earlier beginnings with 'Kaze no Tani no Naushika' (Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind) in 1983, which was based on a manga by Miyazaki. The studio has consistently produced high quality films and is one of the leading animation studios in the world. [MORE GHIBLI FILMS] ABOUT THE MASCOT Totoro hails from the movie 'Tonari no Totoro' (My Neighbour Totoro). It is a forest spirit and was adopted as mascot for the company after the movie earned the studio financial success in its early days. There are in fact 3 Totoros: Oh-Totoro (Large Totoro), Chuu-Totoro (Medium Totoro) and Chibi-Totoro (Small Totoro). However when we say 'Totoro' we usually refer to Oh-Totoro. 'Totoro' is mispronounciation of the word 'troll' by the 4-year old protagonist in the film.  WHAT TO ENJOY IN THIS CLUBThis is a place for fans and deviants to interact and to find out more about Studio Ghibli's films. It is a source for finding Ghibli fanart around dA, also it serves as another platform for you to submit your Ghibli-related artworks to our gallery, thus increasing your exposure in the art community. HOW TO JOINClick 'Join our group' and you will be immediately listed under our members list! Don't forget to keep a watch on our group's activities! Help spread the group by listing our avatars on your journals like this : iconstudioghibli : (without spaces between the colons). ADDING ARTWORKPlease limit your submissions to 2 deviations per time to avoid spamming. They must be Ghibli-related and not contain any vulgar/ mature/ offensive content. Violators will be deleted without notice. Go to the relevant category & click "+ Submit to this Folder" to add a new or existing deviation. JOINING AS A CONTRIBUTORThis group is open to anyone who is keen to promote the club & artists by adding good Ghibli-related deviations to to our galleries, as well as requesting affliations with other related groups. Nice responsible people only please! Abusers of the system will be banned without notice. - Contributors can suggest/vote/edit deviations in the main gallery. By editing it means housekeeping, if deviations are submitted in the wrong folder you can move it to the right category. You may delete ONLY offensive content that is against our rules, nothing else. - Contributors can suggest/edit/vote deviations in the Favorites gallery. The criteria: only the most skillfully executed artwork will be accepted! Upon review all suggestions will either be faved or requested to be placed in the main club gallery so don't worry too much about it. - Contributors can suggest/vote on incoming & outgoing affiliation requests. - Your avatar will be featured in the admin menu on the left and in the 'About Us' tab.
