WHO IS STUDIO GHIBLI?
Studio Ghibli is an animation studio based in Japan. It was set up by animator Hayao Miyazaki and film maker Isao Takahata in 1985 for 'Tenkyuu no Shiro Rapyuta' (Laputa: Castle in the Sky). However the studio had earlier beginnings with 'Kaze no Tani no Naushika' (Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind) in 1983, which was based on a manga by Miyazaki.

ABOUT THE MASCOT
It's name is Totoro, and hails from the movie 'Tonari no Totoro' (My Neighbour Totoro). It is a forest spirit and was adopted as mascot for the company after the movie earned the studio financial success in its early days. There are in fact 3 Totoros: Oh-Totoro (Large Totoro), Chuu-Totoro (Medium Totoro) and Chibi-Totoro (Small Totoro). However when we say 'Totoro' we usually refer to Oh-Totoro. 'Totoro' is mispronounciation of the word 'troll' by the 4-year old protagonist in the film.

As always, note your link to any Ghibli-related fanart you will like to add to our gallery. There has been many Ponyo fanart on DeviantArt ever since the movie was released in 2008; feel free to create your own and post it to your gallery then note us! If you haven't seen the movie yet, Ponyo is a multiple award winning animation loosely based on The Little Mermaid and is directed by Miyazaki Hayao. The full name is "Gake no Ue no Ponyo" or "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea".

I may take a long while to list you or submit your artworks but will get it up in due time, I only check the account every 2-3 months (unless it's activity time *hint hint*). Also please submit only 2 deviations at a given time. Sorry and thanks for your patience ^_^! If it's possible, do note your joining request and submission requests separately so I don't miss out any of your artworks, just in case I misplace the notes lol.

It is a source for finding Ghibli fanart around dA, also it serves as another platform for you to submit your Ghibli-related artworks to our gallery, thus increasing your exposure in the art community!
